FLI Choir Session #3: Why It's So Hard To Make Healthy Decisions

Hi FLI Choir,

Our FLI Choir discussion on Tuesday will be about making healthy decisions.  In your health classes your teachers do a lot to educate you about what's good and what's not, and why.

Exercise - Yes!
Wearing a seat belt - Yes!
Eating a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and proteins - Yes!
Sleep - Yes!
Drugs - No!
Alcohol - Not yet, and even when you are an adult not too much
Sitting all day long playing video games - No
Scrolling social media all day long - No
Creativity and learning - Yes
Healthy relationships - Yes

The issue as I have found it is that human beings are not always rational people.  We know what is good but still don't always do it.  To explore this, please view this Ted Talk by David Asch before class on Tuesday.

In our conversation on Tuesday we will discuss how we personally can help ourselves make the decisions we know are best.  What may work for somebody else might not work for you, so I will also ask you to reflect on how you might apply these perhaps unconventional techniques to your life in the areas you most want them.

Towards the end of the class we will review the Days of the Week song and next steps.

I miss you and making music together.  I hope you all are doing okay.  I watched our recording of "Let Me Fly" today and it made me happy. :)
